The period detail is fantastic, Depp and Cotillard are wonderful but after that it was a let down. Although there were shots that equalled the beauty of Mann's usual films the horrid camerawork spoilt it. The constant close-ups and shakiness gave me a headache. Bale was ok but he's not exciting me any more as an actor. Next to Depp's charisma on-screen he pales. I'm not sure if the scene near the end in the Chicago police station is factual. It seemed ...
