Tony Thulago wrote:I watched "Jason Goes To Hell" yesterday night. It is a perfect film for late night 31.oktober. It is one of my absolute favorites. There is one thing I do not understand thou, -why did`nt this film become a big hit?? I can`t really understand how Freddy vs. Jason became a blockbuster, when the film I am talking about is so much bether. It is made by Sean S. Cunningham and it has much the same feeling that the first friday-film had.

Love the "bang the sleeping bag with the chick inside it against the tree" scene, true Friday the 13th atmosphere.

Trying to distract Cyborg Jason, the resident nerd programs a holodeck recreation of Crystal Lake circa 1980,
and two babes show up offering Jason beer, weed, and pre-marital sex.
"We love pre-marital sex," they announce, taking off their tops and climbing into sleeping bags.

As for me, i saw
Halloween III: Season of the Witch on halloween night.
7/10

It was alot better than i remembered from before. The story is ofcourse mumbojumbo and at the end you are left with a
huge bag of what the h..? But still, its oldschool, its fun, it has alot of fun deaths and is generaly a fun movie. Tho it has nothing
to do with the other Halloween movies, exept that its produced by Carpenter and Debra hill and Carpenter once again kicks ass with
his music.

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

I loved the first 2 movies, they were great.
but this? it kind of ruins the trilogy for me. they should have picked someone else instead of tina turner, WHY tina turner..
I felt like i was watching a kids movie.
i'm giving this a 6/10, i liked some of the action, and MasterBlaster was kind of..cool?

Zombieland - 8 / 10

Loved it. Funny, cool, great rules and fantastic cameo

The Cove - 7 / 10

Excellent documentary. Loved the fact they used thermal imaging cameras and ILM to help them. Some harsh scenes though but that's the point of it.

Drag me to Hell - 8 / 10

Great old school style horror

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

Why? As if Ang Lee hadn't already proven that you can't instill a touch of humanity into a big green CGI monster, someone gave them the green light to try it again. Granted, Edward Norton was better than Eric Bana, but his contribution to the character ends as soon as Hulk appears. Liv Tyler does her usual "look stunned and stunning" at the same time, which is adequate because that's all her character is given to do. Tim Roth gets to chew some scenery and William Hurt gets to clench his teeth...oh boy.

Hopefully, they're done with the Hulk.

I liked it a lot better than the first one, but I was disappointed on 3 levels. I would have liked to see more of Norton in the actual Hulk. Except for much better graphics, there wasn't much difference in the character of the Hulk from the first one. And as fun as Liv Tyler is to look at, and as much as I like William Hurt, I can't help but imagine what it would have been like with Jennifer Connelly and Sam Elliot in those parts. Finally, it wasn't really resolved. The Tim Roth Monster didn't look finished, just down for a while. He'd recovered from much worse that the Hulk had hit him with.

You know, speaking of Jennifer Connelly, she would make a good Wonder Woman...hmmm.

The Men Who Stare At Goats - 7 / 10

Very funny. Clooney and Bridges are just comedy legends. Clooney seemed to be channeling his character from O Brother Where Art Thou! but with a lot more confidence. His dancing scene is brill as is the bit where he tell McGregor to strangle him - also love the fact they keep talking about Jedi in front of Ewan.

The ending got a bit lost, but well worth seeing and some laugh out loud moments.

An Education - 5 / 10

Started off fine, but just lost it's way and became predictable nothingness. No idea why this keeps getting such rave reviews. Left me with a what was the point kind of feeling

9 (2009)
5/10

wow, what a wonderfull setting and incredibly poor execution of storytelling. Basicly there is no point in this movie at all.
Any story would be better than this, the characters, setting, and backstory is awesome, the design, sound, graphics are
top notch. but the plot.. dead flat, boring, useless, unimaginative, dull, flimsy.

It had so much potential. Gonna try and fin the short from 2005, that just has to be better.

Pandorum
8/10

Pretty sweet. actionfilled mindless fun that draws from numerous other sci-fi titles, and does it really good.

Black Dynamite
Black Dynamite/10

Wonder Woman 2009
7/10

Pretty good, as most of the latest animated DC movies are, but as they again changed the origin story to accomedate the century we are in, it
is no longer the 40s, and Diana no longer is forbidden to return to the island, but encouraged to leave it and stay with Men.
(as that is the origin story i like the best Razz, especially as that ties into other DC movies where Diana meets Steve Trevor as an old man again)

Other than that its fun, alot of action, good animation, great voice acting by Nathan Fillion, Alfred Molina and the rest.
And a must see if you like cartoons Smile

What was the last film you watched?

Post  logical_paul on Thu Nov 19, 2009 12:06 pm

The last film I watched was yesterday and it was John Carpenter's The Thing-it was an hour and forty five minutes well spent and still as good today as it was when I was a 14 year old boy,a classic!

Ninja 2009
6/10

Could have been named American Ninja Resurrection, or something, only problem is that Michael Dudikoff isn't in it ^^
Anywho, fun movie, bad acting, bad story and bad plot. Still fun. Great bodycount and some nice deaths.

Horton Hears a Who! (2008), giving it an 7,5/10
After seeing Up! I thought that would be the funniest animated movie for a while, but HHaW! really wins. The humoristic timing is absolutely spot-on perfect through the entire thing, and many scenes are so over-the-top absurd we're getting near old psychedelic cartoons at times (not quite The Three Caballeros, though) It does however get a bit too buttercup happy at the end, too predictable and family friendly. Still, highly recommended from me.

Leviathan (1989), giving it an 8,5/10
Glorious The Thing-remake at the bottom of the sea. Really fantastic effects, fantastically illogical plot, actually pretty decent acting (Robocop! Col. Trautman from Rambo! Dr. Watters from Chicago Hope!) and just tons of good old-fashioned "flamethrowers and scary monster" fun. A must see! Wink

I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked that movie. I'm a sucker for ocean monsters, even the inferior Deepstar Six released the same year, and one of my favorites, Deep Rising which is just a kick-of-a-good-time movie. Seamonsters...gotta love'em.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
8/10

Pretty funny and sometimes absurd movie about a town who only eats Sardines, everything is grey and boring. Tho when it
starts to rain food because of an invention the main character made (and he accidentaly rockets into the clouds and it goes crazy)
All food breaks loose. affraid

great animation, voice cast + supporting voices from Bruce Campbell and Mr. T. great story, great characters and GREAT food.

Me and Asherett have begun watching every Steven Seagal movie (as of now 34 in all i think, that are released) tho i have seen them all except 1,
it cant hurt to see them again Smile

So here are my votes so far:

Above the Law: 6/10
Hard to Kill: 6/10
Marked for Death: 6/10
Out for Justice:6,5/10 <- this movie is so freaking random in everything, i was entertained by the shere randomness.
Under Siege: 8/10
On Deadly Ground: 7/10

I also watched the Steven Seagal - Lawman episode 1 last night, where we follow Steven Seagal's reallife deputy sheriff job in Louisiana (where he
supposedly have been working the last 20 years) Its like Cops just with Steven Seagal, so its a no brainer that its way better than Cops, and its fun
too, Seagal goes all Zen on everyone with his superpowers!

I got to say I'll elevate On Deadly Ground a bit more, that movie actually impressed me. Might just me being blind drunk when I watched it, still well better than your average action nosebuster movie. Plot is actually somewhat thought out, and Seagal's character actually changes throughout! Shocked Not to forget the awesome Alaskan nature shots!

And yes, Out For Justice was quite fun, wonder if the director and/or editor were on drugs making that Smile Loads of totally random shots, random out-of-context dialogue, Seagal playing shouting asshole badboy as best he can.

Forbidden Planet (1956)

Watched this again, one of my favorite old sci-fi movies. Still holds up well today. One of the 2 or 3 REALLY good science fiction films of the "Golden Age". Watched it to review in a Classic Science Fiction blog I'm going to be doing after the new year.
