The Assasination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford: 8,5/10

Beautiful film, didn't know what to expect of it but i was blown away, Casey Affleck is very good, his character is just so awkward all the time.
If i had the means to play blu-ray films, this is one i would really want to have.

500 Days of Summer, which is one of my all time favourites, as you can guess from my avatar, followed by Youth in Revolt which I watched for the first time last night and quite enjoyed. 7.5/10

Up in the Air. Hands on heart, I adore this movie so much, wonderfully perfect and hands down George Clooney's best performance. 10/10

The Birds, 7/10

Liked the movie, but it didn't really do it for me, very exciting at some points, but after the exciting moments, it kind of caved in for me.
But thanks to this movie, i will never look at a big group of birds the same way again.

North by Northwest, 8,5/10

Amazing movie, great story with alot of twists, And that scene with the cropduster was great!
however, it left me with one question,
Spoiler:
what happened to Mr.Vandamm?, he didn't die, and i did not see him get arrested

Picked up a couple more "Soul Cinema" double-feature DVDs so I watched COFFY tonight. Watch the blu-ray of STARCRASH last night.

I imagine he was, it's been a while since I last watched it, but I think I can remember two CIA agents standing next to him during his final scene.

The cropduster scene is genuinely one of the greats in cinema. It actually adds nothing to the story in anyway, but it's a blast of brilliance that I think makes the film even more special.

Out of Sight. I love this movie. Clooney is beyond cool, Lopez has never been better, nor sexier, it's just sheer classy filmmaking, it may represent the best from nearly everyone concerned.

Monsters. I really liked this I have to say, a nice little surprise that relies on character and atmosphere as opposed to spectacle and explosions, I was genuinly touched and taken aback, albeit in a good way. 9/10.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (kickstarting my rewatch of the Harry Potter saga).

Followed that with Paranormal Activity 2. Very enjoyable, some good scares, loved how they linked it back to the first film, if I had any major issues with it it was that I didn't find the family at the centre of the drama just as engaging as Micah and Katie in the first film, but still, at least this didn't screw up in the way most horror sequels do, and yes I'm looking at you Blair Witch (although that wasn't great to begin with admittedly).

Memento 8,5/10

Rewatched this again with someone who has never seen it before, i think that's the most fun you get out of this amazing movie if you've seen it a couple of times before.

the Fall of Sam Axe
Burn Notice series prequel TV movie.

Starring Bruce Campbell as Sam Axe, here you get to see abit of his past and how he ends up in Miami.
Awesome Bruce movie with alot of nods to other Bruce stuffs, including groovy, the chin, chainsaw aso.
A must see for all Bruce Campbell fans.

Sanctum
a budget dive/cave exploration movie produced by James Cameron. Did not see the 3d version, but i hear
its as good 3d as Avatar has. It was pretty good, tho the dialogue was a bit rubbish, still likable characters,
nice atmosphere and good lighting, camerawork aso. A nice tension/drama/adventure movie that was better
than i had guessed from the trailer.

Its also nice to see Cameron putting his name on a budget movie and not demanding it be hollywood style
of doom.

HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN

Pretty much everything you could hope for from a movie called 'Hobo With a Shotgun.' The movie was way over-the-top violent. Rutger Hauer was great. Fun movie if you're into the current crop of 'grindhouse' stuff.

A Very Long Engagment. I really wanted to love this one, I adored Amelie, but I just found it a little all over the shop if I'm honest, but it did have some great moments and Audrey Tautou was wonderful.

Silence of the Lambs

Post  the Natural Gypsy on Sun Nov 20, 2011 9:30 pm

All I can is, I'm glad it wasn't me on the other end of those night vision glasses!

From start to finish, this movie is amazing, no matter how many times I watch it.

What a great set of films!
