Re: Books that should be turned in a film
I think The Dark Tower (Stephen King) books would make a brilliant series of films. Apparently J.J Abrams is thinking of adapting them when Lost finishes in 2010. Interesting...

reading For Whom the Bell Tolls at the mo
the whole thing could work, but if anyone's read it there are 2 chapters about the day the civil war started. I think they would make an amazing one off 60-80min TV drama

I've always thought "Perdido Street Station" would make a good film. Always thought it was one of those "unfilmable" books, but after seeing "City of Lost Children", I think Jean-Pierre Jeunet could do a decent job.

Perdido Street Station is an amazing book as are Meiville's other books. Just started his new one The City, The City.
I agree. Perdido and The Scar would be incredible films

I'm about 2/3 through The Scar right now...it's been on my shelf for a few years and I've just finally gotten to it.
The City and The City has my curiosity up. Let us know what you think of it.

So far it is excellent. Good characters and seems to be set in a present day Earth city but strangeness abounds and I'm trying to get to grips with the concept.

This should definitely be made into films although some of the Stephen King film adaptations tend to be a bit cheesy(anyone remember the tv version of The Stand? urgh!!) What I think would be extremely cool would be for the Dark Tower series to be made into a series of Manga style animations.I think they would be amazing.Daan wrote:catfacer wrote:I think The Dark Tower (Stephen King) books would make a brilliant series of films.

Re:What Book Should Be Turned Into A Film
I would like to see Forever War by Joe Haldeman turned into a film.
The story is about a soldier who goes to fight a war against an alien race millions of light years away from earth and the effects of time dilation mean that whilst he is only gone for a couple of years, the earth has moved on by about 50 years so after a few tours of duty he returns home to earth a couple of hundred years later, finding himself to be an outsider who doesn't understand earths culture, people or way of life.

Forever War is a great book. I'm sure Ridley Scott has a film in development based on the book, but not sure how far along that is.
