Movie Club?
EDIT: thread and stuff is moved to https://liveforfilms.forumotion.net/movie-club-f5/
Is anyone up for a movie watching club. Where we watch a movie every week/bi-weekly? We each choose a , all watch it the hash it over? We'd need quite a few of us to get it going and provide enough discussion.
The List as of Wed 30th September
26th September - anotherzen - The Hudsucker Proxy, 1994, Director: Joel Coen, IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110074/
10th October - Daan- Stand By Me, 1986, Director: Rob Reiner, IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092005/
24th October - Live for Films
7th November - PJOwens75 - Drunken Angel (Yoidore tenshi) 1948, Director: Akira Kurosawa, IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040979/
21st November - Mekka - Control, 2007, Anton Corbijn, IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421082/
5th November - ?
edited and updated: the dates where off with whats been said later in the thread.

Re: Movie Club?
How about getting a list of everyone who wants to join in. Each person takes a turn to choose a favourite film/film they feel has passed unfairly under the radar. We all watch the film then discuss on the forum. A film a week is too much for some. What do people think of a fortnightly or monthly film? The films need to be posted in plenty of time for people to buy/rent them in advance.

Re: Movie Club?
Great stuff. I reckon a film a forthnight could work.
Lets try and say the first one to be watched in the first weekend of September.
Who is up for the Film Club and suggestions for the first film we should watch?

Re: Movie Club?
Mekka as this is your idea do you fancy writing up a paragraph or two that I can post on the Live for Films site to get more people interested?
Re: Movie Club?
Will do. I have to scoot now though. If I don't get chance today I'll post it tomorrow.

Re: Movie Club?
hehe, im all for B&W movies and oldies, the thing from another world for instance, classic hehe,
tho i allways wanted to see the B&W version of the Mist, i think that version is more in line
with the setting of the movie, and generaly what type of movie it is.
Guess i have to come the local DVDshops to see if they have that version.

Re: Movie Club?
Sorry it's late. This is the way I've seen it done before.
Movie Club.
Create a list of the people involved (as below). Each person posts their choice of film. One that they feel will bring something new to the other members. An old film maybe or one they feel has passed under the radar. Members rent/buy the film and then a thread is opened to discuss it. When we reach then end of the first cycle the list begins again.
It's made much easier if films are posted as early as possible. Also if films are available. Often films are available in one region and not others. (I use Amazon US & UK, Netflix and Lovefilm's site to check Region 1 & 2 availability.) When posting a more obscure choice it helps if the year of release and director are also listed. To help ensure everyone watched the same film.
5th September - anotherzen
19th September - Daan
3rd October - Live for Films
17th October - PJOwens75 - Drunken Angel (Yoidore tenshi) 1948, Director: Akira Kurosawa, IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040979/
31st October - Mekka -
14th November - ?
I will add this list to the first post in this thread and update it as people make their choices.
The person whose choice it is that week starts the thread on the appropriate date.
If we each choose one film per round it would be easier. With the numbers we have currently we'll all get plenty of chances.

Re: Movie Club?
Some of the older titles may be hard to buy / rent here. alot of the movie rental places here don't have alot of the older titles, but i'll try my best to watch them anyway.
(Nice choice btw mekka)

Re: Movie Club?
Good point, Daan. Hopefully the list will get filled in quickly enough so we can figure out in plenty of time if a film isn't available to all. In the case of Drunken Angel, I've got lots of time to change it if everyone can't track it down.

Re: Movie Club?
Okay, we'll set a rough date for the movie club for either Saturday 19th or 26th of September.
I've got a few ideas for films so I'll get a little poll set up in the next day or two

Re: Movie Club?
Let's go with Hudsucker Proxy then on 26th September.
We will watch it round about 7pm GMT and then discuss it on the Forum under a separate thread - do you think that will work? Times can be changed
