I was going to use Buckaroo Banzai as my next choice (where's the blu-ray?). Way to go, Phil! Every film on your list would be good. Some I've seen, but most either I saw so long ago that I don't remember them too well, or I haven't seen at all.

Yeah, for just a fistful of dollars, I could watch The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. Heck, for just a few dollars more I'd even watch it again!
Sorry...someone had to do it...

I dont know for sure, i'll have to go back to the store i saw it in, but the internet tells me that there are a total of 4 documentaries, deleted scenes, commentary by film historian Richard Schickel and writer Christopher Frayling and of course some trailers.
Check out this link:

Hello all! Semi-longtime lurker on LFF here, anotherzen poked me repeatedly about joining the movie club so here I am!
Not quite sure how you organize this, but I'll start by throwing out a suggestion: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990) by Stoppard. One of my favorites for sure, hopefully not unwelcome.

Welcom aboard Asherett. Thanks for posting. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead is a fantastic movie. Only watched it the one so I'll have to try and get hold of it again.
Keep the suggestions coming. We'll have to start watching a movie a week!
Re: Movie Club: Info, Films, Dates + Suggestions
maybe as we go along, try and make some theme nights each month? maybe 1 weeken each month we can have a
monster movie extravaganza? where we watch monster movies.
and of course sci-fi night, comedy night, classics (pre 60s/70s)night, or something?
makes for good fun to invite friends to aswell i think

I like the sound of that. Could also bring in more people on those various nights.
As it was your idea I'll let you pick the first night - the theme and the date
Re: Movie Club: Info, Films, Dates + Suggestions

Oh, heck, let's go ahead and add Near Dark http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093605/ to the list, too. I've only ever seen the first 30 minutes before having to leave.

Re: Movie Club: Info, Films, Dates + Suggestions
Ok, we have a comprehensive list of great movies to choose from, should we maye make a poll to see what movie will go next?
Or should we just take it from the top and work our way down?
Just for fun i made a crappy poster for the monster movie night hehe
But maybe something similar could be made to get more people to join the club?
Im gonna pick the first Tremors for the Monster movie night if no-one objects.
And maybe give some info on the whole series + tv show.

I think it's a GREAT poster! It's up to Phil, of course, since it's his site, but I think it should be posted everywhere possible.
I also think TREMORS is a great pick for the first film. Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon, the dynamic duo!
